The Holy Catherine, where any wood takes root, traditionally marks the arrival of the winter in the country world. This year the bougress did not fail in its reputation and the early snow which, however, blocks the building site of rebuilding of the farm, does not prevent us from continuing our activity.
Indeed the work of the plants continues well after harvests and it is in this moment that we clean, sifts, sorts and conditions the simple ones gathered during the beautiful season.
In this period of the Advent work does not miss but we remain available to accomodate you in our lodgings and rooms of host. Our situation enters the ski slopes and the fairyhood of the markets of Christmas of Alsace in fact an ideal place to discover our area in this period.

The Mallow (Malva sylvestris L.):

Botany and geography
Origin: Spontaneous in France and in almost all Europe. The variety mauritanica cultivated is very estimated
Botanical description: - More or less hairy, bi-annual or perennating Plant herbaceous - drawn up Stem, oarswoman - Sheet lengthily petiolate, palmatilobate and toothed - Flowers, in bouquet with the armpit of the sheets, rather large of purplished pink color presenting darker veins - Many cheesecloths - Fruit made up of akenes arranged in circles called fromageon
Collect:
Break into leaf: June-July

Parts used: Flowers out of herb tea sheets out of vegetable
Components:
Break into leaf: mucilage tanninsFleur: Anthocyanosides derived from the malvidol - Mucilage of polyuronic nature (15 to 20 p.100).
Properties: slightly anti-inflammatory drug - Cough mixture - Laxative - Emollient (mucilages)

Applications:
- Asthma, bronchitis, colds, cough
- Mouth ulcers and stomatites
- Laryngitides and pharyngitides
- Soft laxative: 10g sfleurs/liter, 15 mm, at will
- Astringent soft infused: 10 with 20g of flowers per liter, infusion 15 mm, drinking at will.
- In association: pectoral species.
- Other uses in beauty care.
- The sheets, vegetable very common formerly, still are cooked like our spinaches in all Maghreb.
- Empirical veterinary medicine: for the mammites and in ophthalmias: infusion by external way in the inflammatory states with fever at the sheep.
- Old veterinary medicine: gastroentérite of the dog by internal way.
- Modern veterinary medicine: even use that human medicine.
Conservation: out of well closed container, safe from the light, in a fresh and aired room.
